Privacy

Privacy for Chalks

Chalks is a focused writing app for iPad. It is designed to stay simple, local-first, and respectful of user privacy, without accounts, advertising, or unnecessary service layers.

Core stance

Chalks is built around local writing, local board management, and user-initiated export and sharing.

No accounts or tracking

Chalks does not require account creation and does not use advertising networks or third-party tracking for normal use.

On-device work

Your boards, slates, and writing remain on your device unless you explicitly choose to export or share them.

What Chalks stores

Chalks stores your boards, slates, background selections, and related app state locally on your iPad so you can continue working across sessions. This information is used only to make the app function as expected.

Export and sharing

When you export a board to PDF, share a slate as PNG, copy a slate, or send it to another app using Apple's Share interface, that action is initiated by you. Chalks does not send your content anywhere automatically.

Photos access

If Chalks requests permission to access Photos, that request is used only for saving an exported slate image to your photo library when you choose to do so.

Analytics and diagnostics

Chalks does not collect personal data for advertising. If diagnostics, crash reporting, or analytics are added in a future release, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures will be updated to reflect that clearly.

Third-party services

Chalks operates without mandatory third-party login, cloud dependency, or embedded advertising services. Any future optional service integrations should be disclosed clearly before release.

This page is intended to support the Chalks app and its App Store distribution.
